Beginning Friday, January 10 to Tuesday, January 21, 2014, San Antonio will engage in a city-wide summit promoting an exchange of ideas on universal issues facing our multi-cultural communities. The mission is to advance and modernize the teachings set forth by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s vision; to lay the foundation of tolerance, by creating dialog across cultures and communities. DreamWeek will inspire and motivate participants to exchange ideas and insights on a range of subjects.
Each of the twelve days of DreamWeek is dedicated to one of the following themes: City, Sports, Cuisine, Health, Environment, Technology, Education, Arts, Youth, Spirit, Justice and Business. The twelve days of global exchange and celebration will include a series of keynote speaking engagements, mixers, events and celebrations that will foster discussions centered on universal issues.
DreamWeek is hosted in partnership with business, community groups and civic-minded individuals to promote San Antonio as model city of diversity, higher education and medical breakthroughs, with a growing business climate and an exceptional quality of life.
San Antonio’s status as host to the country’s largest MLK March is proof that Dr. King’s words and vision still live, and motivate. Leading up to the 2014 March, DreamWeek will ‘Advance the Voice’ by providing San Antonio with an annual conference that will add excitement, community vitality and economic activity to its calendar of events.
As the world trends toward a more diverse landscape, there is growing need for a vehicle to promote tolerance, interaction and exchange of ideas. San Antonio’s quarter century of successfully hosting the MLK March—now the nation’s largest—provides an opportunity to ‘Advance the Voice’, continuing the conversation at dinner tables, coffee shops and boardrooms.
Within this groundswell of emerging voices are expressions that may have a profound effect on the way we see our tomorrow, today. The power lies not in the activity of a rally or a mantra, but the interactions that lead to a greater knowledge of issues that touch our lives.
Our goal is to make DreamWeek one of the most important gatherings in San Antonio by building new perspectives through empathy and knowledge.
